State-owned Oman Oil Company plans to build a
1mn tons/year capacity polymer plant at Sohar Industrial Port, at an estimated cost of $800mn. The plant will produce purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET), using feedstock from the aromatics plant at the Sohar refining and petrochemicals complex operated by state firm Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic).
