State-owned Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s shipping division – Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) – has deployed armed security teams on its vessels to fight off pirates, KOTC Chairman Badr al-Khashti told the government news agency KUNA.
KOTC started the policy after assessing “the risks and recurrence of piracy in several regions around the world,” he said. “This precautionary measure was taken to achieve full security for the tankers while sailing on routes around the world,” Mr Khashti said. (CONTINUED - 269 WORDS)
