The partners in Azerbaijan’s giant Shah Deniz gas field are interested in buying stakes in both the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) and Nabucco West ventures, an official close to the projects has said.
Speaking this week, Al Cook, BP’s Vice President of the Shah Deniz (SD) Development and the consortium’s chief negotiator, confirmed this month that the SD partners are interested in buying a 50% share in Nabucco West. BP and Azeri state firm SOCAR have been negotiating with the Nabucco partners over the last three months to reach two agreements that would allow the SD partners to control up to a 50% stake in Nabucco and start sharing the project’s engineering costs, Mr Cook said.
