Abu Dhabi is making inroads into recycling carbon emissions for use in enhanced oil recovery (EOR), a development made economic by the increasing cost of domestic natural gas production.
A joint venture of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Masdar, a clean energy-focused subsidiary of fellow state firm Mubadala, is going ahead with a long held plan to capture CO2 emitted by a steel plant and pump it into the nearby Rumaitha field to boost reservoir pressure.
