UAE-based independent Dana Gas has awarded a $17mn contract to build an offshore platform for the development of the Zora gas field that straddles the territorial waters of the emirates of ‘Ajman and Sharjah, more than five years after it was awarded a 25-year concession by the Sharjah government.
Dana CEO Patrick Allman-Ward says the award to Interserve subsidiary Adyard Abu Dhabi marks a key milestone in the $160mn development of Zora, Dana’s first UAE (and GCC) upstream project. Dana Gas expects to start delivery of 40mn cfd of natural gas in the first half of 2015. The gas will be transported via a 35km subsea pipeline to an onshore gas processing facility in Sharjah.
