The CEO of Oman Oil Company (OOC), Ahmad al-Wahaibi has said the company’s mega-projects will add value further downstream, thereby facilitating growth of ancillary industries and services, and thus improve infrastructure and increase employment opportunities.
Oman is focusing on employment and this will be at the forefront of government’s energy sector review. Oman is also examining its policies on hiring foreign workers as it looks to shift more positions from expatriates to Omanis. The Sultanate has asked its departments to propose new rules on the issuing of permits for foreign workers, and highlight those sectors which they think should be the focus of efforts to employ more Omani nationals.
