Shaikh Tamim is close to the Minister of Energy and Industry, Muhammad al-Sada, who is also chairman and managing director of state oil firm Qatar Petroleum (QP). Furthermore Dr Sada is on the board of Qatar Foundation – a key player in Qatar’s economic and skills development, including energy and the environment. Dr Sada developed his career at the foundation, which is headed by Shaikh Tamim’s mother Shaikha Moza bint Nasir, a very powerful figure in Qatar.
