The Karbala refinery is one of four totalling 740,000 b/d, which Iraq’s Oil Ministry plans to build to keep pace with rising transport fuel demand. Technip carried out front-end engineering design for the refinery in 2010.
Technip announced on 4 June that the PMC work will be over two phases: the issue of inquiries for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, bid clarification, evaluation and contract finalization with the EPC contractors; and overall management of EPC execution.
