After Kuwait’s 27 July National Assembly elections – the second this year – many observers are wondering when the next election will take place, since there have been six assembly elections since 2006.
Among the reasons so many parliaments have been dissolved and replaced in so short a period of time are allegations of corruption, a ruling by the Constitutional Court rejecting a government attempt to change the emirate’s electoral boundaries and a failure to work out a modus vivendi between the parliament and the Amir.
