The US major will not complete its technical study of its steam injection pilot in the First Eocene at Wafra until 3Q14, CEO of state-owned Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC), ‘Ali al-Shammari says. The front-end engineering and design (FEED) study will likely begin in the 1Q16, he adds. This would push back a final investment decision (FID) until the start of 2017 at the earliest. The project has slipped by at least three years (MEES, 25 October 2010).
Mr Shammari says Chevron will inject its first steam as part of the main phase of its steam injection program in 2020. After steam is injected, it takes about 12 months to boost output. (CONTINUED - 681 WORDS)
