Baghdad is finalizing the list of firms it will invite to tender for a planned export pipeline to connect Pumping Station 1A (PS-1A) in Basra province to the Jordanian port of Aqaba.
The project is divided into two: a 2.25mn b/d line from PS-1A to Haditha in Iraq’s western Anbar project and a 1mn b/d line from Haditha to Jordan, with a 160,000 b/d spur line to Jordan’s Zarqa refinery. The 680km 56-inch line to Haditha will be led by state oil engineering firm SCOP and awarded under a conventional Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract, while the 46-inch 1,000km line to Aqaba, together with associated port and storage facilities will be awarded to an international consortium under a 20-year Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) contract (MEES, 21 December 2012). Canadian engineering firm SNC-Lavalin is project manager and conducting front end engineering for both lines. (CONTINUED - 305 WORDS)
