Saudi Aramco is extending bid deadlines for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) packages for the giant integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power plant to be built alongside the under-construction 400,000 b/d Jazan refinery. The power plant is intended to supply electricity to the refinery, the planned Jazan Economic City and the surrounding region.
While the scale of Aramco’s Jazan plans was immense from the outset, with the world’s largest IGCC power plant at 2.4GW, the state firm took the industry by surprise by hiking capacity yet further to 4GW.
