Saudi petchems producers are pushing smaller projects as the kingdom’s capacity expansion takes shape. Sadara, the Aramco/Dow JV building a 3.3mn tons/year complex at Jubail for 2015 start-up, has concluded a utilities supply deal. SABIC has also awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for a butadiene plant expansion.
Sadara awarded contracts worth a combined SR70mn ($18.7mn) to Jubail and Yanbu’ utilities firm Marafiq to provide potable water for industrial use, sanitary wastewater and industrial wastewater to the chemicals plant and to connect the plant up to the Marafiq water supply network.
