Dubai-based private firm Petrixo Oil and Gas is ready to build an $800mn biofuel refinery in Fujairah. The company says it has completed studies and engineering designs and selected the technologies for a plant with capacity to produce 1mn tons/year (23,000 b/d) of biofuel products, including biodiesel, green diesel (chemically different to biodiesel), biojet, bionaphtha and bio-LPG. Petrixo will build the plant on a 460,000 sq ms site near the Fujairah Free Zone and Port of Fujairah, according to UAE state news agency WAM.
Petrixo CEO Eid al-Olayyan tells MEES that commissioning and start-up of the plant are scheduled for 4Q 2015. The plant’s two central processes are stratification to produce biodiesel and hydrogenation to produce other biofuels, he says. Besides process units, the site will house a plant to pelletize remaining biomass. (CONTINUED - 278 WORDS)
