Algerian state utility Sonelgaz has signed contracts worth an estimated $4.05bn with four firms or consortia for six combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plants due to begin operating in 2015. The company has also lined up smaller-scale solar and gas-fired mobile capacity additions in the near term.
The new projects take the combined capacity of Algeria’s power projects ‘pipeline’ to 12.19GW by the end of 2016, an amount that is not far short of current capacity of 15.16GW. (CONTINUED - 577 WORDS)
