Kuwait City-based independent Kuwait Energy (KEC) says that recent developments in northern Iraq have prompted the consortium led by Turkey’s TPAO to halt activities at the Mansuriya gas block in Iraq’s Diyala province, until the security situation in the vicinity improves.
In the meantime, the joint venture partners continue to discuss strategy with respect to the development of the Mansuriya Contract Area going forward, it adds. The field is believed to be in ISIS hands after sustained attacks on the vicinity, though given the fluid situation on the ground, it is not clear whether the Islamist fighters are still in control of the field.
