Iraqi Kurdistan has come under increased pressure from federal prime minister Haidar al-Abadi over the lack of transparency in its independent crude export deals. “Where is the money? Where does this money go?” he recently asked (MEES, 26 February).
Now he has his answer. Sort of. On 25 February the KRG’s Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) “relaunch[ed]” its monthly crude oil export report to “include the revenues received by the KRG on account and cargoes lifted by buyers from Ceyhan.” This “further increases the transparency of the KRG’s direct oil sales,” the MNR says. “All future monthly reports will contain this new information.” (CONTINUED - 727 WORDS)
