Around 33mn Iranians cast their votes on 26 February in elections for the country’s parliament and Assembly of Experts. Turnout was more than 60% and the results provided an endorsement of President Hassan Rohani’s successful negotiations with the P5+1 countries to secure sanctions relief.
The precise composition of parliament has yet to be finalized, with the head of the Interior Ministry's election headquarters Mohammad Hossein Moqimi saying on 3 March that run offs will be held for a number of seats in April.
