Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (Enec) has announced completion of the third reactor vessel at Barakah in Abu Dhabi, which will house one of four 1.4GW nuclear reactors. These are being built by Korea’s Kepco Engineering and Construction and are scheduled to be operational in 2020.
Enec says that overall construction of the four plants is more than 65% complete. Reactor vessels for the Barakah-1 and Barakah-2 reactor were completed in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Enec recently completed structural integrity and leak rate tests on the Barakah-1 reactor containment building. (CONTINUED - 265 WORDS)
