Fighters from the Islamic State (IS) carried out a damaging attack on the 170,000 b/d Bai Hasan field in Kirkuk province on 31 July. The field was offline for one day, and while output has since resumed, it appears to be at a much-reduced rate.
Bai Hasan and the Avana Dome of the Kirkuk field were operated by Iraq’s North Oil Company (NOC) until mid-2014, when the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) seized the area to prevent it from falling into the hands of IS. They have since been operated by Kurdish firm KAR, which also operates the Khurmala Dome in the KRG-proper. (CONTINUED - 1185 WORDS)
