Bahraini aluminum producer Alba has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to US conglomerate General Electric and Turkish contractor Gama for a 1.792GW combined cycle gas turbine power plant at its Askar complex on the kingdom’s east coast.
The plant will provide power for Alba’s Line 6 expansion project, which will have 540,000 tons/year output capacity and take the company’s smelting capacity to 1.5mn t/y. GE will provide three gas turbines, three steam turbines and three heat recovery steam generators for the plant. (CONTINUED - 298 WORDS)
