Qatar’s state electricity and water utility Kahramaa is preparing a new tender for a large power and desalination project. Kahramaa has appointed Finland’s Pöyry as technical bid advisor for the Facility E independent water and power producer (IWPP) project, which will be built at Ras Laffan with a view to helping meet expected electricity demand from 2020 onwards.
Pöyry’s role will include the preparation of a request for bids package, as part of an advisory team led by UK-based consultant Ernst & Young and which includes law firm DLA Piper. Facility E will comprise a 2.5GW combined cycle gas-fired plant and a 340,000 m3/d desalination plant. MEES estimates Facility E’s gas fuel requirement at 340mn cfd. (CONTINUED - 312 WORDS)
