With the summer peak demand season well underway, recent hikes to Egypt’s gas output mean that the gas shortages that have plagued Egypt’s power and industrial sector in recent years have yet to materialize.
BP’s 1.2bn cfd West Nile Delta project came online at the end of March and with it came a much-needed boost to Egypt’s gas output. Production hit 5.22bn cfd in May, the highest level since 2013. Output had bottomed out at just 3.89bn cfd in May 2016 (see chart). (CONTINUED - 606 WORDS)
