Kuwait aims to almost double its powergen capacity to 32GW by 2030, when 15% of its electricity is intended to be delivered from renewable sources. Given the intermittent nature of renewables this would necessitate renewables share of installed capacity to be substantially higher than 15%.

Kuwait currently has 31MW of renewables generating capacity, according to the Abu Dhabi-based International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena), most of which was brought online in 2016. This comprises 31MW of small-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity and 10MW of wind. (CONTINUED - 253 WORDS)
