Abu Dhabi state oil firm Adnoc and Austria’s Borealis have signed a framework deal to develop two new plants at their Borouge JV petchems complex at Ruwais, 240km west of Abu Dhabi.
Borouge currently has output capacity of 4.3mn tons/year of polyolefins in three ethane cracker based plants. Borouge now plans to build a “world-scale” mixed feed cracker and downstream units at the site for 2023 start-up and a 500,000 t/y polypropylene plant, which it says should be “up and running by around 2020.” (CONTINUED - 301 WORDS)
