Oman gas output got a shot in the arm this week when BP announced production had started at the Khazzan tight gas field on Block 61. BP confirms to MEES that it expects to reach full phase-1 production of 1bn cfd and 25,000 b/d condensate in Q1 2018.
Khazzan is of considerable strategic importance for both BP and Oman. BP CEO Bob Dudley labeled it the firm’s “sixth and largest major project start-up so far this year.” The field will rejuvenate BP’s flagging regional gas output. (CONTINUED - 1127 WORDS)
