Qatar has reported strong export figures for August despite the ongoing embargo by neighboring countries. The emirate reported that it exported goods worth $5.85bn in August, the highest since October 2015. Of this, $4.97bn (85%) was oil and gas, also the highest since October 2015.
Despite the embargo, the primary restrictions on exports of Qatari products are that Qatari-flagged ships are not permitted to use Saudi, Emirati, Bahraini, and Egyptian ports. Many are therefore using Omani ports such as Sohar as a refueling alternative. And with foreign-owned vessels able to co-load Qatari oil with cargoes from neighboring states, the emirate can still ensure regular supplies to its customers. (CONTINUED - 301 WORDS)
