After the Mediterranean gas success of recent years, Cairo is hoping to repeat the trick in the unexplored waters of the southern Red Sea.
Oil Minister Tarek El Molla this week said a Red Sea bid round is planned for later this year to follow hot on the heels of 10,000km² of 2D “long-offset broadband multiclient seismic” being shot by Schlumberger and Norwegian seismic experts TGS under a $750mn deal inked in July last year (MEES, 4 August 2017).
