Iran oil minister Bijan Zanganeh this week made a number of appointments at key state firms. The key challenge facing all the new appointees is mitigating the impact of renewed US sanctions.
Masoud Karbasian replaced Ali Kardor as CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). Mr Kardor held the post since 2016 (MEES, 17 June 2016) while Mr Karbasian’s tenure as economy minister was abruptly ended in August as he became the fall guy for Iran’s economic woes (MEES, 31 August).
