Oman’s Port of Duqm Company (PDC) has signed an agreement with Anglo-Dutch major Shell to develop a marine fuel bunkering facility at the port of Duqm, on Oman’s eastern Arabian Sea coast, where PDC is developing an industrial zone. PDC says that the agreement will require Shell to build a bunkering terminal offering a variety of grades of fuels and lubricants to vessels calling at the port.
Among visiting tankers will likely be vessels taking products from a 230,000 b/d export refinery at Duqm that Oman’s OOC and Kuwait’s KPI are building to target the Asian market. Oman is also looking to benefit from tightening IMO shipping fuel rules beginning 2020 by developing LNG bunkering services. (CONTINUED - 171 WORDS)
