Oman’s output of key refined products set a new record in January, according to Oman’s National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI). Output of diesel, gasoline, jet-kerosene and LPG amounted to 204,000 b/d, compared with 177,000 b/d in Q4 2017 and 171,000 b/d for 2017 (see chart).
State refiner Orpic announced mechanical completion of the Sohar Refinery Improvement Project (SRIP) in early 2017. SRIP raises crude distillation capacity at the plant, on the Gulf of Oman coast 100km northwest of Muscat, from 116,000 b/d to 197,000 b/d while maximizing transport fuels output (MEES, 17 February 2017), but it appears that only now are the new units being utilized.
