Algeria is assessing seven technical proposals to construct a 5mn t/y refinery for state firm Sonatrach at the oil hub of Hassi Messaoud.
Of the proposals, three come from Chinese state firms including downstream giant Sinopec and CNPC subsidiary China HuanQiu Contracting & Engineering. Three more involve Korean engineering and construction giants: Hyundai on its own, GS in partnership with London-based Petrofac, and Samsung with Spain’s Tecnicas Reunidas. The final proposal, as revealed by Sonatrach on 30 May, is from a grouping of Italy’s Maire Tecnimont and Egyptian firm Petrojet. (CONTINUED - 281 WORDS)
