Japan imported a 300,000 cargo (9,600 b/d) of Omani West Bukha crude in May, the first time it has taken the grade. West Bukha and Bukha lie within Oman’s Block 8, but operator DNO aims to relinquish them by year-end (MEES, 16 March). The fields produced 4,569 boe/d in Q1, split roughly evenly between oil and gas.
Despite the low output from the isolated fields, Oman opened an export terminal at nearby Tibat in 2016. Crude is exported from a single point mooring (SPM) system. But DNO’s withdrawal poses questions over the viability of future output. (CONTINUED - 94 WORDS)
