US majors ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips both made clear statements of intent in their Q2 earnings calls this week that the firms are pursuing contracts for Qatar’s LNG expansion. Qatar Petroleum plans to add three 7.8mn t/y LNG trains by 2023 to bring liquefaction capacity to 100mn t/y with the help of foreign partners. These partners are to be selected by early 2019, and possibly as soon as 4Q 2018.
Conoco’s Al Hirshberg, EVP for Production, Drilling & Projects, responded eagerly to questions on the topic. The firm is keen to expand its partnership with Qatar “if we are fortunate enough to get selected as one of the companies that participates.” (CONTINUED - 165 WORDS)
