Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) says that its light oil capacity currently stands at 160,000 b/d and will rise to 200,000 b/d in October. The 40,000 b/d boost will come from the third Jurassic fields’ early production facility (EPF), which had been slated for an already-delayed August start-up (MEES, 20 April). This EPF is at the West Raudhatain field and is being constructed by US-based contractor Schlumberger.
Kuwait plans to export 120,000 b/d of this light oil, which KOC CEO Jamal Jaafar tells MEES has been reclassified as condensate (MEES, 20 April). Initial volumes of the 48° API oil were exported in July, and Japanese import stats show that it received a 320,000 barrel (10,300 b/d) cargo that month alongside 6.4mn barrels (205,000 b/d) of 31°API Kuwait Export grade.
