Speaking this week at Abu Dhabi’s flagship Adipec conference, Adnoc Executive Director for Upstream Abdulmunim al-Kindy says the firm’s pioneering efforts to develop gas caps at two of its major fields “are the first developments of their kind in the world.” Yet this is just one component of the NOC’s gas strategy, which also focuses on unconventional development and ultra-sour reserves.
Just one year after Adnoc unveiled its integrated gas strategy aimed at achieving self-sufficiency for the UAE by 2030 (MEES, 9 November 2018) there are already clear signs of progress. The UAE’s net gas imports fell to 11.9bcm (1.15bn cfd) for 2018, the lowest since 2014, as output climbed faster than demand. Adnoc’s stated project targets are easily enough to close this gap, and so far, at least, the company is walking the walk. (CONTINUED - 1079 WORDS)
