Qatar has thrown down the gauntlet to rival LNG producers, announcing this week that it is again boosting its already-massive LNG expansion plans. A further two LNG trains have been added to the plans, and Qatar Petroleum now plans to bring capacity up to 126mn t/y by 2027.
With LNG capacity currently standing at 77mn t/y, the new 49mn t/y expansion plan represents a massive 64% increase. Qatar had previously been targeting 110mn t/y under the North Field Expansion (NFE) project. (CONTINUED - 1385 WORDS)
