Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) said on 5 November the Mellitah JV (Eni 50%, NOC 50%) had brought online a 15mn cfd infill well at its Wafa field on the Algerian border as part of a program to maintain plateau production.
The A-57 well is the second to start up in the three-well infill program which NOC says will finish with the drilling of the third and final A-58 well by mid-December. The infill well campaign is the second part of a two-phased plan to halt declines at the aging Wafa field. The first part, a gas compression project, was completed in July (MEES, 2 August). NOC says any output increases will go towards meeting local gas demand with any surplus going to Italy through the Greenstream pipeline. Volumes to Italy in the first 10 months of 2019 are at four-year high at 551mn cfd, with October’s exports at 577mn cfd. (CONTINUED - 192 WORDS)
