US major ExxonMobil(80%op) and partner Qatar Petroleum (20%) have discovered gas on Cyprus offshore Block 10, MEES sources confirm. The size of the find, at the ‘Glaucus’ prospect, the US major’s second wildcat offshore Cyprus, has yet to be confirmed as Exxon continues to test the length of the gas column and its porosity.
Exxon’s first well, drilled in November on Block 10, at the Delphine prospect, came up dry (see map & MEES, 1 February).Drilling is still ongoing at the prospect so any estimates on the size of the find are still very tenuous.
