Two guards and a soldier were killed and four were kidnapped at the Sirte basin’s Zueitina-operated Zella field on 18 May in an attack claimed by IS, which has been desperately trying to reestablish itself following its routing from Sirte in late 2016. Earlier this month it claimed responsibility for an attack in the southern city of Sebha which killed nine eastern-aligned soldiers, plus the group is suspected of being behind an attack further south in Ghadwa which killed three.
