Qatar Petroleum announced this week that US contractor McDermott had been awarded the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for the North Field Expansion (NFE) Project’s offshore pipelines and topsides facilities. The work is expected to take 12 months and covers “eight unmanned wellhead platform topsides, four 38” trunk lines and four 28” intrafield lines.”
McDermott frequently picks up work in Qatar, and in April secured a contract for “fabrication and installation of eight North Field expansion offshore jackets” (MEES, 3 May). It is also in the running in a consortium with Saipem and CTCI Corporation for an EPC contract covering the NFE’s key onshore facilities (MEES, 19 April). (CONTINUED - 129 WORDS)
