Egyptian Chemical Industries (Kima) has started ammonia production at the new Kima-2 fertilizers complex at Aswan in southern Egypt, using natural gas feedstock. Kima will then supply two urea units with the ammonia and carbon dioxide as feedstock.
Italian EPC contractor Tecnimont says Kima-2 comprises a 1,200 t/d (438,000 t/y) ammonia unit, a 1,575 t/d (574,875 t/y) urea melt production unit and a 1,575 t/d (574,875 t/y) urea granulation unit. Kima already has one fertilizer plant at Aswan, a 580,000 t/y ammonia plant that was started up in 1960. (CONTINUED - 88 WORDS)
