Saudi Arabia’s Repdo renewables agency has pre-qualified 60 firms to bid for 1.5GW of solar PV capacity to be developed as Round 2 of its National Renewable Energy Program, which targets the award of a 2.2GW of renewables capacity this year. The seven projects range in size from 20MW to 600MW to be built close to cities in the west of the kingdom (MEES, 1 February).

Firms include Spain’s Acciona, Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power, France’s EdF Renewables, US’s First Solar, Germany’s IB Vogt, China’s Jinko Solar, Korea’s Kepco, Japan’s Marubeni, Abu Dhabi’s Masdar and France’s Total Solar.
