Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC), formerly state utility Water & Electricity Company (WEC), has requested proposals for a 600,000m3/d reverse osmosis desalination plant to be built 18km south of Jubail Industrial City on the Gulf coast alongside three existing desalination plants.
SWPC initially requested expressions of interest for a plant with capacity to generate 3GW of electricity and desalinate 1.15mn m3/d of water, but revised the project to comprise two independent water producer (IWP) projects, 600,000m3/d Jubail-3A and 570,000m3/d Jubail-3B, according to Reuters. Power supply for the project will come from the national grid. (CONTINUED - 173 WORDS)
