Eni (50%op) and BP (50%) this week started up output from the Baltim South West field in the shallow offshore Nile Delta in Egypt at an initial rate of 100mn cfd. Eni plans to drill five more wells at the field over the coming months “with the objective of achieving a production target of 500mn cfd by the second quarter of 2020.” Output from the new field will be a welcome addition for Eni which saw output from the Baltim concession slip to just 70mn cfd for 2018 (MEES, 24 May).
The two firm’s other key nearby field is the 1bn cfd Nooros. The two firms are hoping to boost output from their North Damietta concession next year with additional drilling at the 300mn cfd Atoll as well as the start-up of the Qattameya field, discovered in March 2017 (MEES, 30 August).
