Adnoc CEO Sultan al-Jaber struck a confident tone at this week’s Atlantic Council Global Economic Forum in Abu Dhabi. Speaking on 11 January, he said “at Adnoc, we are well on track to increase crude oil production capacity to 4mn b/d by the end of this year.”
This 4mn b/d target is a considerable increase, given that Adnoc only reached 3.5mn b/d in 2018. Yet a 500,000 b/d increase in just two years looks achievable (MEES, 3 January). Central to the capacity gains are projects at the 1.8mn b/d Adnoc Onshore concession, which is slated to reach 2mn b/d by the end of the year – the Bu Hasa field alone is to add 100,000 b/d.
