Israel’s giant 22tcf Leviathan gas field finally started up on 31 December with experimental gas flows to one of the field’s two key customers, Jordan state power firm Nepco, beginning the following day.
But the date of first gas shipments to the other anchor customer, Egypt’s private-sector Dolphinus consortium, remains uncertain. Leviathan operator Noble Energy reckons deliveries to Egypt will begin by mid-January.
