Power generation from Algeria’s recently-expanded combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) fleet soared past power generated from less efficient simple gas turbine plants in 2019.
The ramp up of CCGT output by 34.7% to hit a record 38.05TWh enabled a 6.3% rise to a record 81.53TWh in the country’s overall powergen output. Gas turbine generation fell 5.2% to 34.67TWh while steam turbines dropped 28.5% to 7.64TWh, according to a recently released energy ministry report (see chart 1). (CONTINUED - 442 WORDS)
