Qatar may be losing LNG market share elsewhere in Asia but it still reigns supreme in India. India’s overall LNG imports rose 16% to 7.68mn tons for the first nine months of 2020. Qatar maintained its dominant market share, supplying 40.3% of the country’s total imports, some 7.68mn tons, up 14% year-on-year (MEES, 13 November for full data).
Qatar’s India stats are also relatively robust in terms of price, with the average of $6.20/mn BTU that India paid for Qatar LNG in September, well above its overall import price of $5.77/mn BTU.
