Despite Covid-19 and payment problems delaying work across Iraqi Kurdistan (MEES, 28 August), Chevron’s Sarta field is on track to start up by the end of the year, junior partner Genel confirmed in a 3 November operations update.
“First oil at Sarta is now imminent,” says Genel CEO Bill Higgs. Output from the Sarta-2 and Sarta-3 wells will begin before the end of 2019 and stabilize at around 11,000 b/d during Q1 2021, Genel says, describing an expected increment of “over 10%” to its net Q3 KRG output of 32,210 b/d.
